Ranking high in Google and Yahoo

The list below includes other factors to influence your ranking.- Cross link all your important pages within your site
- Include a TITLE tag directly after the head tag
- Try to avoid stop words in your TITLE tag (a, an, and, but, etc.)
- Include a DESCRIPTION tag directly after the TITLE tag.
- Include most important key phrase at beginning of the description
- Place KEY WORDS tag after DESCRIPTION tag
- Keywords are NOT important for Google
- Remove all other meta tags (author, date, etc.)
- Include a Site Map with links to your most important pages
- Limit links on your web pages to 100 ( could be a Google myth)
- Use header tags <h1> and include your most important keywords
- Try to achieve a minimum word count of 300 on each page
- Name directories after your key phrases
- Name web pages after your key phrases
- Name your images after your key phrases
- Include keyword in the ALT attribute in image tags
- Include keyword in the TITLE attribute in text link tags
- DO NOT repeat keyword phrases over and over again
- DO NOT set up more than 3 directory levels
